AI Voice Scribe · live in production

The consultation becomes the note.

Dentella's AI Voice Scribe listens to the chairside conversation — in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, English or a mix — and drafts the clinical note, prescription and case sheet while you are still with the patient. You review and save. Nothing reaches the record without you.

How does the AI scribe work?

Four steps. Two of them are the same conversation you were going to have anyway.

  1. At the chair

    Press record and talk normally

Open the appointment in Dentella on the laptop, tablet or phone at the chair and start the scribe. There is no script — talk to the patient in whichever language you both use.

  2. Dentella · seconds

    Transcribe and separate speakers

The Premium engine turns the audio into a transcript with the dentist and patient told apart, tuned for Indian accents and for conversations that switch between languages mid-sentence.

  3. Dentella · seconds

Draft the note, prescription and case sheet

From the transcript, Dentella drafts a structured clinical note, a prescription draft and a case-sheet suggestion with the chief complaint and diagnosis carried across verbatim.

  4. You

    Review, edit, save

Nothing is written to the record until you approve it. Edit anything, then save through the normal clinical-notes flow — the same immutable record you keep today. The audio is deleted once transcribed.

What does it draft?

A structured note in the shape Indian dental case sheets already use, plus the two documents that usually follow it.

SectionWhat goes in
Chief complaintIn the patient's own words, carried across verbatim
ExaminationFindings as dictated — teeth, soft tissue, radiographs mentioned
DiagnosisVerbatim from the dentist; never inferred by the model
Treatment doneWhat was performed in this visit
Treatment planNext steps, sittings, options discussed
Advice & follow-upInstructions given and when to return
Prescription draftMedicines, dosage and duration as spoken, ready to review
Case-sheet suggestionProposed case-sheet entries the dentist confirms or discards

By design: the chief complaint and the diagnosis are carried across word for word from what was said. The model summarises; it never invents a finding or a diagnosis.

Which languages does it understand?

Indian clinics do not consult in one language, so the scribe does not listen in one. The Premium engine is tuned on Indian accents and on sentences that switch language halfway through.

Where does the data go?

Nowhere outside India. Transcription and note generation run on India-hosted speech and language models, and Dentella itself runs on AWS Mumbai. Audio is deleted after transcription; the transcript and drafts live only inside the clinic's encrypted records. Dentella is built for India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, and never sells, rents or trades patient data.

Common questions

What is Dentella's AI Voice Scribe?
An ambient scribe built into Dentella's dental practice management software. It records the chairside consultation, transcribes it in Indian languages or English, separates the dentist from the patient, and drafts a structured clinical note, a prescription and a case-sheet suggestion for the dentist to review and save.
Which languages does the scribe understand?
The Premium engine handles Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Odia and English, including sentences that mix languages ("Hinglish", "Tanglish"), and is tuned for Indian accents. The free tier relies on the browser's on-device recognition, so its language coverage depends on the device.
How much does the AI Voice Scribe cost?
There is a free tier that gives a live transcript at no cost. The Premium tier is a prepaid pack of 30 audio-hours for ₹1,999 plus GST, roughly ₹67 per hour, with no monthly subscription. Clinics top up packs online from their Dentella portal.
Does the scribe write the note into the patient record automatically?
No. It produces drafts. The dentist reviews and edits them, then saves through Dentella's normal clinical-notes flow, which is immutable once committed. The model never places a diagnosis into a record on its own — the chief complaint and diagnosis are carried across verbatim from what the dentist said.
Is the recording stored?
No. Audio is deleted after it has been transcribed. What remains is the transcript and the drafts, inside the clinic's own encrypted Dentella records, processed and stored in India in line with the DPDP Act 2023.
Do I need a separate app or device?
No. The scribe runs inside Dentella in the browser on whatever laptop, tablet or phone is already at the chair, using its microphone. Drafts land directly in the appointment's clinical note, prescription and case sheet.
Does the patient know they are being recorded?
Yes. The scribe shows a consent notice and the dentist confirms the patient agrees before recording starts. Clinics can add the notice to their own consent forms in Dentella.
